Serving the
community for 125 Years

Who We Are?
The Chamber is an action agency designed to meet
the Trinidad area’s needs. We are a voluntary
organization of individuals and businesses who
band together to advance the commercial,
financial, industrial and civic interests of the
community. We are a clearinghouse, a public
relations center for the community, an
information bureau and a community promotion
organization.

Who runs the Chamber?
A board of Directors who serve without pay sets
the policies for the Chamber. The current Board
is very involved in and supportive of Chamber
programs, actively fund-raise, and participate
in all Chamber functions. The administrative
head of the Chamber is the Executive Director.
An Administrative Secretary and a part-time
office assistant round out the staff.
What Do We Do?
The variety of The Chamber’s activities are
virtually unlimited depending on the needs of
the community from year to year. Some examples:
We have sponsored the Denver Post Ride the
Rockies, Legislative Luncheons for Colorado
State legislators, and Up With People. We
coordinated the Colorado Healthy Communities
Initiative for our community, and wrote a grant
for $100,100 to bring a YMCA to Trinidad. Our
overall mission of Service to the Community is
determined each year by our Program of Work,
which includes annual events such as the Santa
Fe Trail Festival, the 4th of July Public
Fireworks Display over Trinidad Lake, Meet The
Candidates, and Hometown Holidays events and
promotions. We’re Open for Business! In
addition, the Chamber is on the "front line" for
the community in business development, promotion
and referrals. Successful businesses mean tax
revenues for the City and, hence, provide
services to Trinidad’s citizens. Last year the
Chamber distributed (collected and personally
placed!) over 30,000 brochures, newspapers, and
other promotional pieces from local businesses
and non-profit attractions in our racks in the
Colorado Welcome Center. We mailed over 2,400
Relocation and Tourism Information packets out
in response to requests we received by mail and
phone. We distributed an additional 500
Relocation Packets and 700 Tourism Information
Packets at our offices, and provided an
additional 3,500 Tourism Information pieces to
other Chambers, to Trinidad Lake State Park and
local Museums
We personally responded to over 7,500 other
requests for information by phone and at our
offices. This includes questions about tourism,
relocation, businesses of all kinds, city and
county services, real estate and rentals, local
newspaper, and many, many others.
Our offices are the first stop for many
persons interested in opening a business or
doing business in Trinidad. They receive a warm
and informative welcome here. We make sure they
find all of the appropriate offices they need,
including Education., Realtors, City and County
Planning and appropriate City and State
licenses. We’re Planning for the Future! We are
using technological advances to promote the
Trinidad area. We are now on-line and are
receiving e-mail.
We anticipate an increased demand for our
services this year and into the future as the
community continues to grow; as new businesses
create new jobs and the corresponding demand for
additional goods and services.
Businesses Support the Community unity!
For 121 years we have provided needed
services as well as major quality-of-life events
for this community. These services have been
provided and funded mostly by dues and
contributions from the businesses in our
community—our Members! |
