As with the State of Colorado, qualified labor is tight. However, a Colorado First program has been implemented in our county through Small Business Development, Economic Development, City, County, Trinidad State Junior College, Colorado Workforce, and other private agencies.

The program offers ongoing training skills courses for carpenters, cementers, plumbers, welders, and other related positions. A Construction Technology Program at Trinidad State Junior College provides some of these courses now. The college is also incorporating hospitality training courses and would consider any other courses that would satisfy your company's business needs.

Job Training Partnership Act

The federal Job Training Partnership Act, operated locally through Rocky Mountain SER, offers on-the-job training contracts to employers. This program is designed to help defer some of the cost of training new employees. These contracts typically offer a 50% subsidy of wages paid for a period determined by the job classification involved. For details contact:

Colorado First

The Colorado First program is funded and operated by the State of Colorado through Trinidad State Junior College. This program provides customized training programs for new and expanding businesses and includes funding for either in-class or on-site training.
