Transportation Services:

  • Interstate 25 runs northbound to Denver and southbound runs to Albuquerque, NM.

  • Highway 160 to Springfield, CO

  • Highway 350 to La Junta, CO

  • Highway 12, Scenic Highway of Legends 

  • Burlington Northern/Santa Fe has daily freight service as well as piggyback service.

  • Amtrak schedules two stops in downtown Trinidad daily along the Santa Fe Trail.

  • TMN&O Bus line also schedules four stops in Trinidad daily.

  • Perry Stokes Airport, located 10 miles northeast from Trinidad, services small plane needs.

  • Passenger air service is located in Colorado Springs, north of Trinidad, about 130 miles. To the south is the Albuquerque International Airport, about 220 miles. 

  • Trinidad is the site of a United Parcel Service Distribution Center. UPS provides daily pick-up and delivery. 

  • Airborne Express and FedEx have drop/pick-up locations in the community as well.

  • National Truck Line firms service the county through Albuquerque to Denver.

Financial Institutions:

Community Services:

  • Mt. San Rafael Hospital lies to the southeast of Trinidad, providing general patient and emergency care.  There are also many physicians, specialists, and dentists in the area.

  • Trinidad State Nursing Home for the Elderly is a first-rate, state funded, assisted living facility. 

  • The South Central Council of Governments provides week-day transportation for low income/elderly citizens at very inexpensive rates.  There is also a local taxi cab company that operates seven days a week.

Environmental Compliance:

  • The City of Trinidad and Las Animas County comply with both the State of Colorado and Federal requirements for: Air Quality, Water Quality, Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste Water, Land Use Regulation, Worker Health and Safety and the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act.
